People often ask me: what's your favorite camera? I give this sort-of-snarky but absolutely true response: the one I have on me.

The other day I climbed into the passenger seat of my sister's car, looked ahead and spotted this rain soaked leaf stuck to the front of her rain soaked windshield. I knew immediately I wanted to photograph it. The only camera had on me was my iPhone. And it was my favorite camera.

That's actually happening more and more for me. I simply don't carry around my DSLR as often as I used to. And I sold my Hasselblad a few years ago. But guess what? My trusty iPhone 16 Pro is one incredible camera, and I'm finding I can rely on it in many situations.

The image of the leaf, shot through the car window, is tack sharp. I made a gorgeous 16" x 16" print of it last night.

In my abstract painting practice, I often turn the painting round and round while I'm working on it. Maybe some of that is spilling over into my photography, because I noticed I like this image just as well if I rotate it counterclockwise and lighten/darken some areas.
